The Bedesten, also known as the St. Nicholas Church, is a church structure built in the Gothic style on the remains of the Byzantine era. During the Venetian period, it was converted into a Metropolitan building by the Orthodox community under the name St. Nicholas, and in the early years of the Ottoman period, it was dedicated to the Haremeyn to be used as a textile market. In the 1760s, it was a commercial center where prominent Turkish, Greek, and Armenian merchants of Nicosia sold various food products. In 2009, it was restored and reintegrated into the community for use in cultural and artistic activities.
